September GardenProposal for an art installation competition at Fornebu
Art criteria: no sharp edges, child-friendly, and highly durable for outdoor use.
The works were envisioned as a sculpture garden surrounded by wild, native vegetation, drawing inspiration from Japanese rock gardens and rock formations shaped by water.
The sculptures were designed to be made of a cast material based on local rock types and stones sourced from both the construction process and the surrounding landscape. Stones embedded in the sculptures—resembling terrazzo—would serve as small "archives." Over time, lichen and moss would become part of the sculptures; what might be perceived as "decay" could instead become an ongoing process that students and staff could incorporate into their educational activities.
The area was intended to be a place for study and exploration, but also a space for relaxation.
